Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 September 2026

Your information helps us get you a place to stay and keep the record straight. Here is what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have, in plain language.

1. About this policy

Feel is operated by Fenniks Digital Solutions Limited, of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Feel is a product of Fennik. In this policy, “Feel”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Fenniks Digital Solutions Limited, which is the data controller responsible for your personal information.

This policy covers the Feel mobile app and the website at usefeelapp.com, and applies to students, tenants and hostel operators who use Feel. We handle your personal information in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (the NDPA).

2. Account and sign-in

You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Google or Apple.

  • When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the name and email address, and a profile photo from Google, that you allow them to share.
  • We store your email address and basic account details so you can sign in and we can keep your account secure.

3. On-campus registration form

On-campus hostels require a registration form before you can book. The form collects your full name, department, level, matriculation number, gender, date of birth, phone number, next of kin name and phone number, permanent home address, state of origin, and religion.

The completed form is shared with the hostel you apply to, so they can handle your admission and room allocation.

Religion is sensitive personal information under the NDPA. We collect it because it is part of the information hostels normally ask for on their accommodation form, the same as when you fill a hostel form in person, and we process it only with your explicit consent, which you give when you submit the form.

4. Identity verification (KYC)

Off-campus lettings are real tenancies, so before you book an off-campus place, or claim an off-campus tenancy you already hold, you complete a one-time identity check. For this we collect:

  • Your ID type (NIN, international passport, or driver's licence), ID number, and ID expiry date where it applies.
  • A photo of the ID document.
  • Your full legal name as shown on the ID, date of birth, phone number, and residential address.
  • A guarantor's full name and phone number.

Why we collect it: to verify your identity for a tenancy, prevent fraud, and prepare the tenancy agreement.

Your ID photo is private. ID document photos are kept in private storage and are never public. They are seen only by you and by Feel's verification team.

What the hostel or landlord sees: the hostel you book with can see your legal name, phone number, date of birth, residential address, and your guarantor's name and phone number. The hostel never sees your ID document photo or your ID number.

If you give a guarantor's details, you must have that guarantor's permission to share them with us.

We keep your KYC data and ID photos while your account is open, and remove them within 7 days after you delete your account.

5. Tenancy agreements

For paid off-campus bookings, Feel generates a tenancy agreement using your legal name, residential address, guarantor details, the rent, the term, and the landlord's legal name and address. Agreeing to it in the app is how you sign it.

6. Profile and community features

  • Profile: your profile photo is visible to other users, and you can choose an optional companion username.
  • Companion avatar: a cartoon-style avatar is generated for members using DiceBear (api.dicebear.com). DiceBear receives an anonymous account identifier and a style setting based on gender. It does not receive your name or contact details.
  • Hostel group chats: messages are visible to the members of that group. You can report messages, and reports and any temporary chat bans are recorded.
  • Complaints: complaints you send to hostel management are stored along with their status.
  • Ratings and reviews: a hostel's average rating is shown to all users. Written review comments are visible to that hostel's staff.
  • Saved hostels and notification preferences: we store the hostels you save and your notification settings.

7. Existing tenants and one-time codes

When a hostel joins Feel with tenants already living there, the hostel records the tenancy (room, block, and tenancy end date) and receives a one-time code for that tenant. When you enter the code, the tenancy is linked to your account, and the hostel can then see your details as it would for any other booking.

8. Hostel operators

If you run a hostel on Feel, we collect a work email, the hostel's legal name and address, and payout bank details (account name, account number, and bank). Your bank details are shared with Paystack to set up your payout account. If you turn on browser notifications for the dashboard, we store a browser push subscription so we can send them.

9. Payments

Payments are processed by Paystack. We receive confirmation of payment and keep records such as the amount, reference and receipt. Feel does not store your card details.

10. Technical information

The Feel app does not use analytics or crash-reporting tools. The technical information we handle is:

  • Device push notification tokens, so we can send you notifications.
  • Technical logs kept by our hosting and infrastructure providers for security and reliability.

11. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Create and secure your account and sign you in.
  • Process your booking, verify your identity where needed, prepare tenancy agreements, and issue your receipt.
  • Let your hostel confirm and manage your reservation, admission and room allocation.
  • Run community features, send booking updates and notifications, and handle complaints.
  • Take payments and pay hostels their payouts.
  • Keep Feel secure, prevent fraud and double-selling, and meet our legal obligations.

12. Legal bases for processing

Under the NDPA, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: to give you the booking and tenancy service you signed up for.
  • Consent: where you agree to something specific, such as receiving certain notifications, or providing sensitive information like religion. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: to keep records the law requires and to comply with the NDPA.
  • Legitimate interests: to keep Feel secure, prevent fraud and double-selling, and run the service well, in a way that does not override your rights.

13. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is needed to run the service, with parties that act as our processors and receive only what they need:

  • The hostel you book with: the booking and details described above, so it can confirm and manage your tenancy or reservation.
  • Paystack: payment processing, and payouts to hostels. Feel does not store card details.
  • Supabase: database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Vercel: hosting for the hostel partner dashboard.
  • Resend: sending account emails, such as confirmation and password reset.
  • Google and Apple: sign-in, when you choose them.
  • Expo and Firebase Cloud Messaging: mobile push notifications.
  • Browser push services (for example Google, Mozilla, Apple): dashboard notifications for hostel staff.
  • DiceBear: companion avatars.
  • Authorities: where the law requires it.

14. Where your data is stored

Because our providers operate globally, your data may be processed on servers located outside Nigeria. Our database is hosted in Western Europe. Wherever your data is handled, we take steps to keep it protected and to make sure any transfer happens with appropriate safeguards in place.

15. How long we keep it

  • Account and profile: while your account is open.
  • KYC data and ID photos: While your account is open, then removed within 7 days after you delete your account.
  • Registration forms: While your account is open, then removed within 7 days after you delete your account.
  • Booking, payment and receipt records: kept as long as Nigerian tax and accounting law requires, even after your account is deleted, with your name and personal details removed.
  • Chat messages: While your account is open, then removed within 7 days after you delete your account.

16. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. In particular:

  • Data is encrypted in transit.
  • Access to each user's data is restricted at the database level.
  • ID documents are stored privately.

No online service can be completely secure, so please help by keeping your login details private.

17. Your rights under the NDPA

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it.
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we process your information.
  • Withdraw any consent you have given.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

To exercise any of these, email us at hello@usefeelapp.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within the time the law allows.

18. Data breaches

If a personal data breach happens, we will notify the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) and the affected users as the NDPA requires.

19. Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app under Settings > Account settings > Delete account, or request it at usefeelapp.com/delete-account.

What is deleted: your profile, username and photos; identity verification (KYC) details and ID photos; registration forms; messages you sent in group chats; hostel reviews and complaints; saved hostels, notification settings and device notification tokens; and support messages.

What is kept: records of past bookings and payments, with your name and personal details removed, because the hostel needs an accurate record of who occupied a space and what was paid, and Nigerian law requires financial records to be kept.

You cannot delete your account while you hold an active booking (paid, reserved, or checked in) or while a payment is still being resolved, and hostel operator accounts cannot be deleted from the app while they manage a hostel. See the delete account page for the full steps and timing.

20. Minimum age

You must be at least 14 to use Feel. Off-campus tenancies require you to be at least 18. If you believe someone under the minimum age has given us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

21. Cookies and similar technologies

The Feel website uses only essential cookies, the ones needed for the site to work. We do not use them to track you across other websites. The Feel app uses local storage on your device to keep you signed in and remember your session.

22. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a significant change, we will do our best to let you know, and we will always update the date at the top.
